A new patch going out over Steam today updates Borderlands with cloud saves for remote backups, and implements a new beta stat-tracking feature into which users can opt.
We first heard about the BTest patch a little more than a week ago. The feature allows Gearbox to track what Borderlands players are doing in the game so they can “make the game better” (read: use the data to make Borderlands 2 better). It’s an opt-in feature, meaning you don’t have to surrender info about how you play the game to Gearbox if you don’t want to, but it includes some interesting components, as noted on Gearboxity:
- The result of ongoing work within Gearbox Labs, BTest is a limited-time experiment that offers you the chance to help us tune and improve our games.
- By choosing to participate in BTest, you help us learn more about the world of Borderlands (what guns are the most popular and effective, what areas are being played the most, etc.) just by playing the game!
